YOUTH DEVELOPMENT & EDUCATION
AFTER SCHOOL
We offer after school programs that serve approximately 800 Woodside-based students per academic year. Most children come from lower income immigrant families who need to enhance or develop academic and social skills, strengthen peer and adult relations, become more familiar with American customs in a safe and supportive environment.
WOTM currently has six sites : P.S. 152Q | P.S. 11 Q | P.S. 398Q | P.S. 361Q | Academy of the City Charter (AOC) | I.S. 429Q operating Monday - Friday from 2:30pm to 5:30pm. It includes homework help, sports, music, performing arts, creative writing, health and nutrition, computers and STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) activities such as a 3D Printing Program.
All academic activities are specifically designed to meet the current Common Core Standards in order to create a seamless transition between day school and after school and to offer students individualized support, based on their needs. We also offer additional programming during the school holidays, winter, mid-winter, and spring recesses.
SUMMER CAMPS
WOTM Summer programs offer a wide range of activities, including arts & crafts, arts & culture, sports recreation, social recreation, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). In addition, students enjoy exciting field trips to places like the Bronx Zoo, the Museum of Natural History, and the Science Museum, providing them with a fun and educational experience throughout the day.
Program Registration Information
All programs under DYCD are FREE of cost, but require completion of registration in advance. All New York City DOE students are eligible to enroll in our DYCD summer program.
For our DYCD Summer programs, registration is done in partnership with the DOE Summer Rising program. It begins online with the Department of Education (DOE), and then community-based organizations (CBOs) complete the registration process for summer programs.
Paid summer camp registrations begin in late April and run through June. Registration is completed online. Once all required documents are submitted, parents will be notified via email and phone call confirming their child’s full enrollment.
