ADVOCACY

We work hard every day to provide our community with the necessary tools to enforce their rights as tenants by offering them community organizing training, education outreach, housing workshops, legal clinics, research and policy as well as local and citywide coalition building. Through our work, we are able to implement capacity building by incorporating civic engagement to advocate for better communities.

The largest number of cases we handle involve eviction proceedings, rent overcharges, heat and hot water disputes, pest infestation, repairs and maintenance issues, and housing discrimination.

Many of our tenants come from different areas of Western Queens which includes Woodside, Sunnyside, Long Island City, Astoria, Jackson Heights, Maspeth, Rego Park, Kew Gardens, Elmhurst, Corona and Flushing.
