WOODSIDE HERALD - P.S. 152 was our own United Nations for one night as different cultures met to sing, dance and dine. Woodside On The Move’s afterschool program, grades Kindergarten to 6th Grade, with the support of Principal Vitolo and his staff, created a multicultural night to celebrate the diversity of our community. From Australia, China, Brazil, to India, Madagascar Morocco and Italy, students performed in the traditional dress and fashion of each culture, greeted the audience in Italian and explained the cultural differences of the world’s continents. The hit of the night was the song from the movie Madagascar, “I Like to Move It, Move It” bringing loud cheers and applause from everyone as they watched the First graders having fun. Students also highlighted famous New Yorkers and Woodsiders representing Colombia, Italy, China, India and Mexico. At the end of the show over 100 parents and their children sampled delicious food donated by the parents of the program. Woodside On The Move is organizing a Youth Festival on April 29 and will continue their traditional summer concerts on Thursdays to draw attention to our multicultural communities.
